Quick FAQs

Ask any questions you have. We are here to help and answer your questions and facilitate the easiest, fast and convenient experience through your self auction journey!

1How long does it take to auction my car?

From the time you schedule your inspection you should expect it will take 2-5 business days until the transaction is complete. Once the auction is done you will be notified and we will schedule a time to pick up the car and hand deliver full payment for your car.

2What will the inspector check during my car inspection?

The inspector will look at the mechanical aspects of the car, the overall condition of the car, including the paint, Interior, and frame.

3Am I really able to drive my car while it’s being auctioned?

Yes! Our inspector will come out inspect and take pictures of your car. The rest is done through our technology and you can continue to use your car.

4What if I change my mind and don’t want to sell my car?

Using MyCarAuction is completely risk free. There is no obligation to sell your car. If you decide to virtually auction your car, upon completion of the auction we will let you know what's the highest bid achieved and you get to choose whether to sell your car or not.

5How does MyCarAuction know what my car is worth?

MyCarAuction uses a carefully crafted mathematical formula that considers your car’s color, mileage, condition, vehicle history, location, and statistical data from car sales nationwide and regionally over the last year into account to find you vehicle’s expected sales price at auction.

6How do I know MyCarAuction has the best price for my vehicle?

MyCarAuction provides you the prevailing price of your vehicle based on thousands of recent car sales held around the country.  The prevailing price is the highest price paid for that specific car.  The price is generally much higher than what you will get at a dealer or competitor.  Plus if it sells for more you get more money.  Something no other dealer will offer you!

7Does the expected minimum price for my car change from day to day?

Since your car’s value is based on live statistical data and cars are being bought and sold every day, it will likely change over time. However, these changes will be slight and should have little impact on your car’s expected auction price.

8Why can’t I auction my car myself?

Only people who hold a dealership license are allowed at our dealers only auctions. Although there are auctions like eBay and other public auctions, they don’t attract as many buyers and can not create nearly the competitive bidding environment that MyCarAuction has. This leads you to get less for your car.

9Why is MyCarAuction better than selling to a dealership, or just selling the car myself?

MyCarAuction provides you a higher price than any single dealership or private buyer, while removing all the headache and hassle that comes with trying to sell the car yourself. The process is simple, risk-free, and headache-free. Because your car is going to an auction, you often get a higher price than the minimum reserve price MyCarAuction provides you. All this from the convenience of your home or office, and you are free to use your car while we are doing all the hard work.

10Where does my car go?

After your car is auctioned, you will get a call to schedule for pickup and payment of your car. Your car will be picked up by our contracted trucking company and will be delivered to our secure holding location to be scheduled for pickup by the winning bidder for your vehicle.

11Can I have my car picked up from my house or work?

You can have your car picked up from wherever is most convenient for you.

12Can I participate in the auctions?

MyCarAuction works with dealer-exclusive auctions across the country, meaning that without a dealer license it is not possible to bid at these auctions.

13Can I buy cars with MyCarAuction?

Currently, you can only auction and sell cars through MyCarAuction.

14How am I paid when my car is bought or sold?

When MyCarAuction sends a team to pick up the car, we will bring you full payment for the car.

15What paperwork do I need to sell my car?
  • – Your car’s title: This is also called the pink slip; it gives you the legal right to sell your used car. But don’t sign it yet.
    – Check with your lender: If you still owe money on your vehicle’s loan, call the lender to learn how to arrange the sale.
    – DMV Paperwork: Our team will assist you with this.
